A nature inspired transformation
Ishøj Library has been revitalised with a sensory interior inspired by the Danish landscape. The redesign has refreshed the library’s atmosphere and sparked renewed interest among visitors.
A highlight is the imaginative “reading forest” in the children’s area – complete with animal graphics, tree stump-shaped poufs, “hollow tree” shelvings and soft rugs, creating a welcoming space for storytelling, play, and discovery. The layout encourages shared reading, sensory play and curiosity and bespoke furniture from Lammhults Biblioteksdesign ensures a cohesive blend of function and aesthetics.
The project was realised through close collaboration with the library team, with every decision supporting an inclusive and inspiring environment. Since the new interior design, Kulturium Ishøj Library has seen a surge in interest from both families and institutions, making it a valued social and cultural meeting place.
