An extraordinary building inside and out

Within days of being handed over to Renfrew Council by BAM Construction Scotland, Johnstone Town Hall was awarded the accolade of ‘Development of the Year (Public Buildings)’ at the Scottish Property Awards.

This building, with its combination of a striking glass façade, deep public atrium and high quality stone finishes stand from the surrounding buildings in Ludovic Square, and was designed as a catalyst for a wider regeneration programme for the town. It creates a new model for the delivery of community services as the public library, theatre, marriage suite, conference room and café sit alongside staff from the council’s housing and social work departments, AdviceWorks, Police Scotland and MacMillan Cancer Support.

The Design Concept were instrumental in the design of this library together with the flooring, lighting and graphics to ensure we delivered a cohesive design. We worked closely with the architects Holmes Miller and members of the library staff to ensure we were able to meet the library brief.

In this respect, it is an extraordinary building inside and out.
