Light, fresh, and a little playful library in the heart of Europe
Like the rest of the campus, the media library of Artevelde University of Applied Sciences in Ghent was renovated in 2021. The existing library was completely renovated, enlarged, and transformed into an inspiring learning environment.
The renovated media library has a warm and inviting interior and offers sufficient space for meetings and longer stays. The shelving systems consist of low, white shelves that make the library light and manageable. At the same time, the mobile shelving allows for a replaceable interior design that makes it easy to change the placements of the books and general appearance.
The library exists of three different zones each with their own look and feel: an open workspace, a collection area for paper books, and a DIY zone.
The library has become a place for visitors to work, relax and meet. Employee Lore Letermere says: “Students, employees, and visitors unanimously agree that the renovated media library has become a pleasant and inspiring room. People are very positive about the quiet, sober environment that also radiates warmth and is comfortably furnished. The media library looks light, fresh, and a bit playful. Completely tailored to the Preschool and Early Childhood Education for whom the media library is mainly intended.”
