Begijnendijk library is ready for present and future

The Begijnendijk library wants to be more than a mere collection of books. Councilor Bob Michiels points out the flexible design: "The furniture is so functional that it can be easily pushed aside to make room for lectures or other cultural activities". Both the shelving and the book browsers are equipped with wheels so that they can be easily moved. Mr Fred De Keyser, chairman of the library board, is also pleased with the realization in the heart of the town. "A library should be at the forefront of the information revolution, and the new building and the whole new concept were the perfect occasion to set the right lines: becoming a meeting and experience center with room for modern media and techniques".
