Game central
No more Mr Quiet Guy
The libraries of today are no longer places where silence is expected. In fact, they are now places that encourage fun, participation and collaboration. But they still need to provide quiet spaces for people who need to study or who want to escape the noise.
So then what should you consider when deciding where to place the gaming zone within a library?
Firstly, you need to take the other users into account. The gaming zone needs to be in an area that is far away or separated from the study area so as not to disturb the people seeking peace and quiet. Secondly, it needs to be given sufficient space to accommodate games that require kids to move around and games that are played in groups. Lastly, the furniture needs to create a relaxed environment where children can play either sitting down or standing up.
