New iconic library in Calgary, Canada
8 February 2019 / Project news
The new Central Library has become a new icon for the city
The iconic arch shape building that is designed to LEED Gold standards by architects Snøhetta and Dialog invites in all visitors that are welcomed by a huge skylit atrium with a stellar view of the entire building. The wooden curved material provides a warm aesthetic and helps to control the acoustics in the atrium.
With an area of 22,000 square metres this iconic space is the perfect place to read, study and socialize. The new library has space for 450,000 titles and accommodates various library needs with plentiful reading, learning and meeting spaces, a café, a performance hall and an outdoor area.
We are proud to have supplied our Slimline shelving system that has been adapted to meet requirements of both the architects and the library. LED light is installed on every single shelf with almost invisible fixture and wiring.

"It really is quite spectacular
- a cultural hub of learning and innovation.
It will be the experiences that people have
in this space that will determine
if they keep coming back…
we want that to include elements of
discovery, mystery and wonder.
And every floor has that,
multiple ranges of experiences that
speak to different people in different ways.”
