The meeting place of Son en Breugel
The Dommelhuis has existed in the former church of St. Peter, Chains in Son en Breugel since mid-2022. The Dommelhuis is a social centre for young and old people where culture and mental health are in focus. It houses, besides the library, various welfare organizations and cultural associations.
The interior, designed and manufactured by Puur Sang and Schulz Benelux, facilitates many activities that take place in the library such as courses, computer cafes, lectures, and children’s activities.
Designer Rob Lindhout says: “The design and overall interior characterises a new direction for the library that focuses on meetings, learning (from each other), knowledge, and of course reading. The shelving systems in the library have been seamlessly integrated into the overall design and the rest of the interior.”
Son en Breugel voted Library of the Year 2023 in Netherlands!
The jury rewarded the library with this prestigious title thanks to its clear direction, a professional team and distinctive programming, designed in collaboration with suitable partners.
